The life of a Parrot Head is filled with color. From the lively feathers of the parrots and flamingos of our club logos, to the bling on our club shirts. We are, for sure, a colorful bunch.
For our 5 O’Clock Phlock PHC, October finds us adorned in the bright hues of purple and pink to bring awareness to two of our most important charitable endeavors – Alzheimer’s and Breast Cancer.
We’ll be decked in pink for our first event of the month this Thursday, October 16th,  when we return to the very cool Lucy Blues in downtown Conroe. Debbie Glenn and her family will host us for our annual October Happy Hour to support Faith Fighting Cancer during Breast Cancer Awareness Month. FFC creates beautiful gift baskets for breast cancer patients in hospitals all month. This local all-volunteer organization provides so many services for cancer patients and their families when needed the most.
We’ll be on the patio at Lucy Blues with our infamous “Bra Pong To Save The Ta-Tas”, dart poker and other yard games. Tickets to play are only 5.00 each, with a prize drawing for winners.
The patio bar will be rockin’ and the kitchen will be open – yum! Our Happy Hour begins at 5 p.m. and is open to the public.  Ya’ll come join in! We’ll have a special gift for the best male and female in pink!
The same night at Lucy Blues, we will have our “SOCKtober” drive for the homeless, where we’ll collect new socks in all sizes. It’s easy to forget how brutal winter can be, even in Texas, when your feet are cold. Let’s fill the cart again this year!
We’ll transition to purple two days later for the Walk To End Alzheimer’s in The Woodlands on Saturday, October 18th in Town Green Park. Our team will be easy to find under the big tent ablaze in Parrot Head regalia, with lots of club giveaways for walkers and guests. Our own Missy Harvey will present the Purple Flower during the opening ceremony. Our team members are hard at work fundraising and are very close to goal after our successful event Sept 20th at GuadalaHarry’s.
Speaking of that September event, we owe a huge shout out to everyone who came out to support our Walk Team that night. We had a fabulous night and raised $5000.00 for our team. We had fantastic entertainment from our own talented members, with a wonderful assist from club friend Mike Fuller of Fuller’s Guitar. Our “Sister Act 5” had the crowd laughing to being the evening; our Jammin’ DJs Richard and Michael spun some great tunes all night. Mike, Jake and Stephanie brought the crowd to tears with their heartfelt renditions of three amazing songs from Kenny Chesney, Ashley Campbell and The Booth Brothers, each telling a story of the heartbreak of ALZ set to beautiful music. And of course, When there is a PH gathering, there must be an After Party. Ours was a great jam session with our 5OCP Jamm Band while guests checked out.
Harry and his crew were just wonderful – we have truly found an event home in their upstairs party room. We love it so much we have gifted our light up palm trees to the photo wall as a thank you and permanent reminder that they are part of our PH family now!
Come join the October PHun as we Party With A Purpose!
