The clock is slowly ticking toward the 250th anniversary of the signing of our Declaration of Independence.
Paul Revere’s ride occurred 250 years ago last April 18 followed by the Battles of Lexington and Concord. The Continental Army was established 250 years ago last June 14 with the Navy just recently celebrating its 250th anniversary. The battle of Bunker Hill near Boston occurred 250 years ago last June 18. The Colonists would have won if they had not run out of bullets.
Those poor Colonists were disorganized, but were wanting their freedoms. They were willing to fight the world’s mightiest Army and Navy to get those freedoms. Their hardships were many as they gave their ALL in their simple lives in order to provide such freedoms to the next generations.
The Sons of the American Revolution along with the Daughters of the American Revolution are proud ancestors of those Colonists. The America250 project is a nonpartisan national movement to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the launch of this nation. Events leading up to the historic date of July 4 are planned across the country and in Montgomery County through the local America250 committee.
