“To earn this award, you must be deeply connected to the community, making it a challenging honor,” said executive director Megan Christopher. “Only two other nearby communities were awarded.”
This is one of many accolades recognizing Worthington Manor’s excellence. The community was named Best Assisted Living by U.S. News & World Report and has earned Great Place to Work certification for three consecutive years.
A community designed for life
Perched on Conroe’s highest point, Worthington Manor feels more like an English manor than an assisted living and memory care facility.
Spread across 26 acres overlooking Wedgewood Golf Course, the 135,000-square-foot building houses 118 designed apartments, each with views of woods and sunsets.
A former Astros general manager, initially hesitant about assisted living after his wife’s health challenges, was immediately struck by the community.
“The setting for the facility in a quiet wooded area is serene, and the building itself reminds me of a luxury hotel,” he said. “It is bright and spacious and offers recreational and entertainment amenities we never expected.”
Worthington Manor includes open common areas, dining rooms and multiple gathering spaces designed to encourage residents to connect beyond their apartments.

Residents quickly discover that life at Worthington Manor blends comfort with independence. Recreational programs, weekly outings and on-site amenities offer opportunities for new hobbies and social connections.

A 104-year-old resident and World War II veteran enjoys a full life at Worthington Manor, embracing the independence and activities the community offers. His experience reflects a broader trend among residents: staying active, pursuing interests and building meaningful connections at any stage of life.

At Worthington Manor, life feels like family.
The community fosters a welcoming environment where residents and staff look out for one another. Staff members provide care while also building relationships, checking in regularly and offering encouragement.
The community is privately owned, and the owner visits frequently to connect with residents. He also has a personal connection to the community, as his mother was once a resident.
Amenities are designed to bring people together. From the cybercafe with outdoor dining to the creative studio, billiards room, library, fitness and wellness center, and outdoor patio with grill area, each space encourages residents to explore and socialize.
Residents like Barbara M. illustrate the impact of this environment. After briefly returning home, she realized how much she had lost—daily structure, friendships and a sense of purpose. After returning, she became involved in activities again, including art classes and clubs.
Grateful for the renewed sense of connection, she told staff, “Thanks for giving me my life back.”
