As polls closed in the May 2 special election, Ron Angeletti (D) and Brett Ligon (R) are up for a vacant Texas Senate District 4 seat. Incumbent Brandon Creighton chose to vacate the seat after being named chancellor and CEO of the Texas Tech University System.

What’s happening

According to unofficial voting results, Ligon leads the race with 19,078 votes—or 76%—while Angeletti has 6,182, or 24%.
