A new name can signal big changes ahead.
For residents at Pegasus Preserve of Vintage Park, formerly Brookdale Solana Preserve at Vintage Park, the transition has sparked a different conversation: what happens when a community retains everything residents love while gaining new opportunities?
The independent living community transitioned to Pegasus Senior Living management on April 1. For residents and families, the most noticeable part of the change isn’t what’s new—it’s what’s stayed the same.
“The people our residents know and trust are still here, the services they’ve come to rely on remain the same, and the relationships we’ve built over the years continue unchanged,” Rena Knowles, Executive Director said. “That continuity has been incredibly reassuring for residents and their families.”
Why the new name?
The transition to Pegasus Preserve of Vintage Park reflects a change in management, as Pegasus Senior Living took over operations from Brookdale Senior Living.
The April 1 shift brings a new name and branding, but community leaders say the day-to-day experience for residents remains consistent. Many of the same team members, services and programs continue to define life at the community, helping maintain continuity during the change.
Knowles said since the change the focus has been stability rather than disruption.

Keeping what residents love
Despite a new name and management transition, the foundation residents value most at Pegasus Preserve of Vintage Park has remained firmly in place.
The community has recorded multiple months of 100% resident satisfaction on internal surveys—a reflection of consistency in daily experience, relationships and service.
A major factor behind that consistency is the long-tenured staff who have shaped the community’s identity for years. Many team members, including Executive Director Rena Knowles, have been with the community since it opened over nine years ago—a level of continuity uncommon in senior living.

That longevity has created a familiar, steady environment where residents are supported by people who know their routines, preferences and personalities, reinforcing a sense of trust that doesn’t reset with management changes.
Bringing new, exciting offerings
While residents’ day-to-day experience remains familiar, the transition to Pegasus Senior Living is introducing new resources to expand community offerings.
The goal is not to replace existing traditions but to build on them—adding more variety, structure and creative programming options while preserving the community’s culture.
Early focus areas include:
- Expanded lifestyle and enrichment programming
- New activity and event concepts developed with regional support teams
- Additional resources to strengthen resident engagement planning
- Opportunities to personalize daily programming based on resident feedback
“Pegasus has been clear that they won’t fix something that’s not broken,” Knowles said. “They recognize the strong foundation here and want to build upon it.”
For residents, more options may gradually appear on the calendar—but within a framework that reflects the familiar routines, relationships and lifestyle they know.

A Texas connection
Another difference residents may notice is that Pegasus Senior Living is a Texas-based company headquartered in the Dallas area.
Two months into the transition, Knowles said the company’s culture has already stood out.
“What I’ve learned in a short time is they have a strong mission to serve,” she said.
That philosophy aligns with the community’s approach: putting residents first and building meaningful relationships to keep them active, connected and engaged.
The transition represents the next chapter of a well-known community. The building’s name may be new, but the people, relationships and commitment to resident satisfaction remain the same—backed by additional support for the community’s growth.
