The City of Conroe’s Holiday Camps for students on school break are back for this season after a pause in the program.
The camps resume Dec. 22-23, offering Conroe-area families a “safe, engaging and enriching environment for children ages 6–12 (unless currently enrolled in the after-school program).”

Other upcoming camp dates are Dec. 29 through Dec. 31 and Jan. 2, a four-day camp; Jan. 5, one-day camp; Feb. 13, one-day camp; and March 9-13, five-day camp to correspond with Conroe ISD’s Spring Break and April 6 for Good Friday.
“The City offered a successful Holiday Camp for years – we know it is a needed program in our community. With our new center opening, the City of Conroe now has the space to provide a quality Holiday Camp experience that will serve as a reliable, fun and enriching option for working families during holiday breaks,” said Nancy Mikeska, deputy city administrator. “We aim to build lasting memories and positive experiences for children in the Conroe community. Space is limited so watch our website for enrollment.”
The camp dates will include hands-on activities, social development, recreational fun and field-trip experiences. Camps will be split in two groups including ages 6 to 8 and ages 9 to 12, with 52 participants in each group, according to information from the city.
Campers will rotate through activities in 30-to-45-minute blocks with a one staff member to 10 camper ratio.
Hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the new Oscar Johnson Jr. Enrichment and Recreation Center at 710 Foster Drive. The center is not yet open to the public, but youth programs will be transitioning to the new property in December and January prior to the grand opening later in January.

Priority is given to City of Conroe residents for the Holiday Camp slots. A one-day camp is $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents.
Specific dates for the future will be finalized with the City of Conroe calendar and the Conroe ISD calendar.
