The Conroe Noon Lions Club continues to live out its motto, “We Serve,” with a busy fall season full of outreach and community engagement. Our members have been actively conducting vision screenings at local preschools and taking part in community health fairs across the area.
These screenings help identify potential vision issues early, ensuring that the youngest members of our community get the best start possible with healthy eyes and clear vision. It’s always rewarding to see the smiles and curiosity of the children as our volunteers guide them through the process.
At our weekly meeting on Wednesday, we were honored to welcome our District Governor Mike George, from the Dayton Lions Club, who shared an inspiring message about the importance of membership.
The topic couldn’t have been timelier, as our club has just launched its Fall Membership Drive. Membership Chair Steve Wohlschlaeger has done a terrific job with our ‘Roar for More’ campaign this month. A special thanks to his team captains Lions Rich Sproba and Charlie Irvine; we are in for a ‘club divide’ football game showdown this month. As I was once reminded “When we build our membership, we escalate our service.” Every new Lion brings fresh energy and another set of hands ready to serve. The strength of our club truly comes from the dedication of its members and our shared commitment to improving lives right here in Montgomery County.
We also took time to celebrate one of our own, Lion Micha Haarhoff, who was recognized as our ‘Lion of the Month’ for his outstanding work and dedication during the recent “kids on the lake” – fishing tournament for special needs children. Micha’s enthusiasm and hard work helped make the event a success. His willingness and can-do attitude embody what it means to be a Lion.
As we move deeper into fall, the Conroe Noon Lions Club remains committed to serving through vision programs, youth outreach, and community service projects that make a difference every day. That’s why I’m proud to be a Conroe Noon Lion, ROAR!
