Conroe Noon Lions Club was treated this week to a performance of the highly anticipated show 1776-the musical, by The Players Theatre Company. Just like any show there were a few club previews before the entertainment began. Quick reminder that the Annual Golf Tournament at Walden Golf Club was last Thursday and at press time everyone had their fans charged & clubs ready!
Lion Bryan Rennell announced our last Service Saturday for the Lion’s year on June 20th from 8-12pm meeting at the club office. Lions will partner with the Community Assistance Center to install window units for families in our area who do not have air conditioning. This is a great way to give back to the community as having AC in our area is something most of us take for granted. Lions are working hard to “Take Back the Piney Woods” for their final membership drive of the 2025-2026 year. Lion Steve provided every Lion with an encouragement bandana for the drive which, might I say, makes a great headband to wear! Conroe Noon Lions Club will be Leveling Up for last two events of President Tracy Irvine’s year. First, the club will host their annual Community Partnership Luncheon on June 24th at 12 pm at the Lone Star Convention Center.
Russell Ybarra the Founder & CEO of Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen & Jimmy Changas will be our speaker this year! If you are a local community partner, please make sure to turn in your RSVP to the club ASAP! Lastly, the club will be Leveling Up with “Game On” the end of the year Installation Banquet to install our new board members for 2026-2027. The theme this year will be 80’s Arcade, so to prepare I highly recommend neon colors and Adam Sandler’s Pixels movie! Luckily, we will be saving our world not by our video game skills, but with Lions serving our local community. A huge THANK YOU this week to our Community Partners of the Week – Waypoint Landscape (Craig Price & Les Shannon) & Top Star Construction (Joe Mendiola & Jeremy Dueitt)!
Thank goodness we all survived the previews! Lion Ruth Smith began our show today by introducing The Players Theatre Company who have been in the community for 60 years! To help celebrate America’s 250th Birthday, the group is performing 1776 The Musical from June 26- July 5th. They will even have a special matinee on July 4th so, you can still enjoy your fireworks! The club presented a scene from the musical featuring actors that play John Adams, Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. Based upon the Tony Award-winning musical, this comedic musical helps bring a face to the history of the delegates of the Second Continental Congress as they debated, dreamed and struggled toward the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Director Casey Burden wanted to remind everyone to get your tickets early as they are already close to selling out on multiple shows!
Please come check out the Conroe Noon Lions Club at 11:45 am every Wednesday at the Lone Star Convention Center. For more information, please visit our website, www.conroenoonlions.org, or call the local club office at 936-760-1666.
