The Conroe Noon Lions Club continues to stay busy serving our community, and this past week was a great example of the energy our members bring to everything we do.
At our Wednesday meeting, we officially wrapped up our recent Spring Membership Drive, appropriately titled “The Battle of the Sexes.” This friendly competition between our male and female members brought plenty of fun, camaraderie, and most importantly… new faces to our organization. After several weeks of recruiting efforts, the results are in the ladies came out on top this time. While the men may be regrouping for a comeback, the real win is for our club and the community, as we continue to grow our membership and expand our ability to serve.
Service was also front and center this past weekend. On Saturday, Conroe Noon Lions participated in the Interfaith Community Clinic during their Healthy Kids Fest event to provide vision screenings for local children. Lions screened over 100 kids throughout the day, helping identify potential vision issues early and ensuring families have the information they need to seek proper care. Vision has always been a cornerstone of Lionism, and opportunities like this allow us to make a direct and meaningful impact right here in our community. Events like Healthy Kids Fest highlight the importance of collaboration and reinforce our commitment to supporting the health and well-being of local families.
Looking ahead, preparations are ramping up for one of our largest annual efforts — ‘The Concession Stand’ at the Montgomery County Fair, which kicks off April 9th. This project is both a key fundraiser and an important service to the community. While proceeding from the stand help fund the many charitable initiatives we support throughout the year, it also allows us to provide fairgoers especially families with affordable food options during the event. Successfully operating the stand requires a full team effort, and it truly is an “all hands-on deck” moment for our club. From cooking and serving to logistics and coordination, every Lion plays a role in making this effort a success. The time and energy invested during the fair directly translates into resources and services that benefit our community year-round.
We were also honored to welcome a special guest speaker to our Wednesday meeting. John Landrum joined us from the Waxahachie Lions Club as he campaigns for the position of International Director within Lions Clubs International. During his visit, he emphasized the importance of collaboration not only between Lions clubs, but also with other community organizations to maximize impact and expand service reach. His message reinforced the idea that strong partnerships are key to addressing today’s challenges, both locally and globally.
