Coushatti Trace Chapter Awards DAR Good Citizen Scholarships

The
Coushatti Trace Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution
(DAR), recently recognized three outstanding high school seniors through its
DAR Good Citizens Program. The program honors students who exemplify the
qualities of dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism—traits that
help strengthen and renew the ideals upon which our nation was founded.

Each
year, participating schools select one senior to serve as their DAR Good
Citizen. This year, Willis, Montgomery, and Lake Creek High Schools each chose
a student to receive a DAR Good Citizen certificate and pin. The students were
then invited to submit an essay for judging by an independent committee. Based
on the essay competition, the chapter awarded a $1,000 scholarship to the
overall winner and $250 book scholarships to the two runners-up.

Cassidy Boeger of Montgomery High School
was selected as the Coushatti Trace DAR Good Citizen Scholarship recipient.
Boeger served as Head Drum Major and worked as a Teacher’s Assistant through
the school’s Education Pathway Program. She plans to attend Stephen F. Austin
State University, where she will major in Primary Education and Early Childhood
Development.image

Loren Flood of Lake Creek High School
