Saturday, December 13, 2025 was a very busy day for alot of people. If folks were in Montgomery at 10 AM, they saw a fabulous parade, one of the biggest ever had in town. Then the Cookie Walk is always a wonderful way to take home delicious sweets.
Then starting at 4 PM until 7 PM, is the interesting Tour of Homes, that actually started back in the mid-1950’s. It was then and still is now, hosted by the Montgomery Historical Society. The privately owned historic homes and businesses in Montgomery are opened to the public for a small fee.
The Thomas Jefferson Stubbs 2523 Conroe Chapter, Texas Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy, has been honored for at least the last six years, to help the owners of these houses and businesses, as docents. Docents in period dress, knowing the history of the house or business that they are showing. Some of the houses have even had a butler at the front door.
Other historical groups have helped yearly in the Tour of Homes showing. They are: the Texas Division Sons of Confederate Veterans, Montgomery Historical Society, the Daughters of the American Revolution and some folks who are just interested in history and keeping it alive.
As was mentioned the day was busy, as Wreaths Across Amercia was also going on. The Stubbs chapter had members at that event and would like to say thank you to Stuart Evans who sounded TAPS at the ceremony. Also to the Conroe Army Recruiting Station for helping unload the wreath truck and for the new sponsorship group, the American Heritage Girls Troop 1230.
The Stubbs UDC chapter has a great love for our veterans and the history that surrounds us in old town Montgomery.
Christmas in Montgomery is always on the second Saturday in December, make plans now to attend the event in 2026.
