Indianapolis, Indiana: The (7-5) Houston Texans are on a hot streak winning four (4) games in a row including the latest victory against the AFC South Division leader, the (8-4) Indianapolis Colts, 20-16.
Playing the Indianapolis Colts at home has been one of the most difficult challenges for the Houston Texans. In fact, during their first five (5) years of the franchise, they were 6-0 playing the Colts in Lucas Stadium. However, since 2008, the Texans have won seven (7) games out of nineteen (19) games; however, returning quarterback C.J. Stroud has been undefeated against the Colts in their home stadium. I thought there would be a quarterback controversy since back up quarterback Davis has three (3) consecutive wins, conversely, C.J. Stroud started the season with three (3)losses; however, C.J. Stroud returned as a starter, and although he was rusty over throwing, missing pass routes and throwing an interception, he managed to get his team to victory with twenty-two (22) completion on thirty-five (35) attempts for two hundred and seventy-six (276) yards. His counter part was the Colts’ quarterback Daniel Jones was battling a leg injury yet was accurate connecting with wide receiver Alex Pierce for a beautiful TD pass nineteen (19) yard over the shoulder reception putting the Colts ahead in the second quarter 6-3. The Colts missed the extra point. It was an exciting game with the score changing three times, but the Houston Texans pull a rabbit out the hat with wide receiver Nico Collins on a end around to get his first rushing touchdown, from the seven (7) yard line, in his career putting the Texans in the lead for the final time.
The team was still flying high from their win against the (8-4) Buffalo Bills when they recorded eight (8) sacks and their offensive line did not allow a sack and beat an AFC contender. The Houston Texans have the number one defense in the league shutting down the number one Colts’ running back, Johathan Taylor to only eighty-five (85) yards on twenty-one (21) carries. The Texans’ backs of Marks and Chubb combined for ninety-eight (98) yards including an impressive four (4) yard touchdown for Nick Chubb to put his team in the lead during the second quarter. The hard hitting Azeez Al-Shaair led the team with four (4) solo tackles and four (4) assists. Defensive lineman Sheldon Rankins got the game only sack, but the team pressured the Colts all afternoon. Texans place kicker Ka’imi Fairbairn was two (2) for two (2) putting up eight (8) points for the day along with the Texans’ punter Tommy Townsend that averaged forty-eight (48) yards per punt. The team is starting to gain momentum during the most important part of the season. They might just win it all. Keep in mind, it is not how you start, rather it is how you complete your season. Coach Ryans has his hand on the pulse of this team and is passionate about his players celebrating their victories.
