On the cold Winter’s Evening of December 2nd, the City of Conroe held their Christmas on Main Tree Lighting, and all the Public and Vendors came out to Celebrate the beautiful City decorations and festive spirit. The wonderful sounds of the Jazz Band played in the Conroe Founder’s Plaza. The FRIENDS OF THE FLAG FOUNDATION for the TEXAS HISTORICAL FLAGS PARK was also there to celebrate and educate about their special Park on the hill next to the Library. This Texas Historical Flags Park is a separate park from the large sprawling Veterans Memorial Park next to it, and is managed by different Boards.
The FOFF Board members showed up in their “TX Period Dress” with touches of Christmas flare to add to their special spot they created with Texas Historical Battle Flags, and tri-fold boards with photos showing all their do.
FOFF President Mike Wilson was there to greet the Public and promote the Texas Historical Flags Park, along with FOFF Flag Master: Bernie Sargent and his wife, Melissa Sargent. FOFF Board Member Dianne Kebodeaux created the Picture Boards, and she and her husband, Kip Kebodeaux, also had a grand time greeting the Public and explaining about their special Park. FOFF Board Member Elaine Collings, who also serves as Publicity Chairman, handed out THE LONE STAR MONUMENT & HISTORICAL FLAGS PARK special educational books on the Park and Texas History. The organization of the FOFF has thousands of these Booklets made every year, and “gives” them freely to the Public and School Children for Texas History Education. These Books have traveled across the Great State of Texas, and across the Nation and Foreign Countries who want to know everything about “TEXAS”.
FOFF Board Members: Dianne Kebodeaux and Elaine Collings also attended representing the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, as well as the Rebel Joan Of Arc 2721 Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Flag Master: Bernie Sargent also represents the Montgomery County Historical Commission, Texas State Historical Foundation, and Montgomery County Historical Preservation Officer. FOFF President Mike Wilson, additionally represents the Sons of the Republic of Texas and the Lone Star Chapter, and is a Knight of The San Jacinto. All these wonderful “Volunteers” give their time to the community for so many educational and historical goals.
~~The Community Thanks the FRIENDS OF THE FLAG FOUNDATION for their tireless service for Texas History Education.~~
