A new neighborhood park in Montgomery is bringing a Houston-area first to the Briarley community.
Briarley Neighborhood Park, a 4-acre park in the Briarley community off Old Plantersville Road, features a more than 23-foot-tall log tower by playground design-build company Earthscape, according to a June 18 news release.
The tower, which anchors a twisting 15-foot slide, is the first of its kind built in the Houston area, according to the release.
What we know
The park was built by HD Outdoor Construction and also includes smaller slides, a swing set and other nature-play structures made with large logs.
Michael Cox, president of Johnson Land Ventures, the developer behind Briarley, said the natural-style playground was chosen to fit the setting of the park.
“When we saw this collection, we knew it would be perfect for our first community amenity,” Cox said in the release. “The park features both active and passive spaces, with a creek running through it, rocky areas and numerous existing trees. Bright-colored play structures would have been jarring in this setting. The log tower collection blends in beautifully.”

In addition to the playground, Briarley Neighborhood Park includes seating areas, a lawn for yard games and an overlook onto one of the community’s lakes, according to the release.
More amenities are also planned for the community, including an amenity center with meeting space, a resort-style pool, playground, pickleball court and fitness center. Similar to the neighborhood park, the recreation center site is being designed around the existing trees, according to the release.
Zooming out
Briarley began home sales in spring 2025 and offers 60-, 70- and 80-foot homesites. Builders in the community include Chesmar Homes, David Weekley Homes, Highland Homes, J. Patrick Homes and Perry Homes.
Available floor plans range from 2,600 to nearly 5,600 square feet, with prices starting in the $510,000s and going to more than $1 million, according to the release.
The community is located near Hwy. 105 and behind Montgomery High School, with access to Lake Conroe, The Woodlands and Houston.
