On May 14, 2026 members of the Friends of the Flag Foundation representing the Texas Historical Flag Park in Conroe, Texas along with members from the Sons of the Republic of Texas Lone Star Chapter from The Woodlands, travelled to Magnolia ISD’s Lyons Elementary, for their “Tour of Texas” celebration. Exhibitors from the area joined to bring Texas History alive. The FOFF supplied their publication Educational Activity books to the school several weeks prior to visiting. 170 fourth graders spent time with a hands on lesson on early Texas and the flags that flew during the revolution. FOFF President Ron McAnear spent time discussing the Flag History in one room, using the portable flag display, while Past FOFF President Michael Wilson and SRT Charles Billingsley discussed early Texas life with pelts, replica weapons, tools, toys, and period clothing. Tyler Behrens, coordinator from the campus said the flags were important and the history with hands on approach was exciting for the students. For the past three years, The Flag Park members have helped with presentations for the “Tour of Texas” program
