Constable Mark Herman said multiple agencies were searching for James Willis. He got away while being treated at HCA Houston Northwest hospital on Saturday.
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas — Authorities in north Harris County are still trying to find a man who they said escaped custody last weekend.
The incident unfolded Saturday as James Lee Willis III was being treated at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest hospital off FM 1960 near I-45.
According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, Willis escaped and carjacked a man outside the hospital by acting like he had a weapon and forcing the victim to drive to Westfield Place Drive, which is just over a mile from the hospital.
That’s where investigators said Willis got out of the car and ran away. He was last seen at the North Freeway and Paramatta Lane. He wasn’t wearing a shirt but had on blue jeans and shoes.
“Our office, along with additional law enforcement agencies, continues to search for James Willis. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact law enforcement immediately,” Constable Mark Herman said.
Authorities said Willis is now facing aggravated family assault, burglary with intent to commit another felony, unlawful possession of a firearm, violation of bond, escape and aggravated kidnapping charges.
