This week’s Veteran is Darrell Webster, who served in the United States Army from 1989 – 2015. He was a Field Artillery Senior Sergeant, and a Jumpmaster (meaning he purposely jumped out of perfectly fine planes over 150 times). He did tours in Korea, and had multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan over his career. His fist combat tour was Operation Desert Storm, then he started multiple tours to the Middle East starting in 2003. His combat tours were not cake walks, and he lost good friends, including one he personally escorted his body back to states for burial. His family have been instrumental in him remaining on the right side of sanity, and overcoming his trying times. Darrell has four kids, two grown, and two still in local schools. He does daily push-ups for Veteran suicide prevention, which he started on July 23rd, 2016, and he has the guns to prove it. Darrell thinks on positivity each day, and refuses to dwell on bad memories, or what’s going on in the news. He is truly a beautiful and kind man.
