MCN's 'Veteran of the Week' - John Runnels

This week’s Veteran is John Runnels, who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1958. John received his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio. He was trained in supply, and stationed overseas in South Korea in 1955-1956. It was there John was able to view the The Korean Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ, which was just a border that was not yet built up like it is today. In 1957, Runnels was then sent to Japan, then onto George Air Force Base in California. Following his service in 1958, John worked as a contractor with the Navy and Air Force while in California, and retired working for the Defense Contract Management Agency in Texas. Good Luck John, and Congratulations on being MCNs ‘Veteran of the Week’.
