On January 30 and 31, 2026, two members of the Thomas Jefferson Stubbs 2523 Conroe Chapter, Texas Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy, were in Waco for the organizations’ Annual Forum. There was a Meet & Greet on Friday at the beautiful Cambria Hotel on the Riverfront. This get together gave the ladies a chance to meet new members, see old friends and to have an enjoyable social time.
Forum was held at the President’s Room, high above McLane Stadium on the campus of Baylor University.
The Texas Division, UDC has an annual meeting, usually in January or early February of the new year, members came from all over the state to Waco to attend Forum. The Forum comes after the Texas Division has had their state convention in October and General convention in November.
At this meeting in the new year, break out sessions are had, so that the state officers can explain what their office does or answer questions that the membership might have. If a members’ name has been submitted for a special award, that bestowal takes place. It is a day taking care of business, decisions to be made and always some laughter is had. It also gives the Texas Belles (choir) a chance to rehearse.
The President’s Room is a lovely, spacious place to have a meeting. The view from the top floor is beautiful. Mrs. Barkmann stated that seeing all the flags “blowin in the wind” was impressive. She also said the food was absolutely delicious.
Mrs. Barkman and her daughter, Christina, both thought that Forum was well attended, very informative and they enjoyed being there.
