Last fall, brothers Robben and Ian Montez were stars in the “Buddy Holly Story Musical” at The Crighton Theatre in Conroe.

Close to 4,000 people attended the eight shows. The brothers are back with the premier of a new concert, Maggie’s Farm Band: A Tribute to Bob Dylan. The concert will be at Bernhardt Winery on Saturday, Aug. 16.

In the Buddy Holly Story Ian did an amazing portrayal of Buddy Holly. When he did the show he was the same age as Buddy Holly was in that time period. This time, Robben takes the lead as the young Bob Dylan that was portrayed by Timothee Chalomet in last year’s Oscar nominated biopic “A Complete Unknown.” Robben, with his own natural look, doesn’t have to do a whole lot to resemble Chalomet and by extension a young Bob Dylan.

Both Ian and Robben are passionate about the music they play. They also play in the classic rock cover band, Vinyl Arcade, with their dad and besides playing the music they read and study to learn about the musicians whose music they cover.

“My approach to this show is the same as what Ian did when he did Buddy Holly, as he learned everything he could about Holly,” Robben said. “I saw A Complete Unknown when it came out and was inspired to listen to and read a whole lot about Bob Dylan. I hope to honor Bob Dylan by being the best Dylan I can be.”

“Most of the music in the concert will be played with a four-piece band,” Ian said. “Robben will do a few songs like Dylan did acoustically, and we will do the majority of them with the band reflecting how Dylan transitioned to recording and performing with a band. We will do some hit songs that paid tribute to Dylan that were done by other bands like The Byrds and The Turtles and the Beatles. The Band backed Bob Dylan on his 1966 Concert Tour and we will play a little of their music. We also will do a bit of other music from that era as well. I plan to do a song I wrote.”

“We have played at Bernhardt Winery multiple times,” Robben said. “We think it is the perfect venue to debut this show.”

There are tribute bands everywhere these days. Although some of them are quite good, the artist doing them are generally much older than the bands were when they recorded the music they cover. Robben and Ian are very close in age to Buddy Holly and with this show, a young Bob Dylan. Most tributes play music that brings back memories from those days. Maggie’s Farm Band: A Tribute to Bob Dylan will be like getting in a time machine and sitting at the actual concert just like it happened.

Bernhardt Winery is located at 9043 County Road 204, about 10 miles west of Montgomery just off Highway 105 West. It is family-friendly venue that is perfect for an entertainment event. Coolers are allowed for picnics but NO outside alcohol is allowed per TABC rules. Wine, a selection of craft beers, soft drinks and water are sold by the winery.
