The Randall family partners with Rochester Development to build a new community on their ancestral land in Montgomery County.
HOUSTON — As developers are scooping up more and more rural land for master-planned communities in Montgomery County, one local family has decided to take development into their own hands.
The Randall family has partnered with The Woodlands-based Rochester Development to build Homeplace, a residential community with an initial 1,000 homes on 446 acres along the southwestern side of FM 2854 — and potentially more.
The family has owned land in and just south of the city of Montgomery near Lake Conroe for generations and grew it to about 2,000 acres. Some of it they have sold to the Montgomery Independent School District, which built Creekside Elementary and Lake Creek High School there.
For the rest, the six-member family has been approached by many developers in recent years, said Will Randall, whose great-grandmother received the initial 500 acres by partition in the early 1900s.
