The Montgomery County Literary Arts Council will host a Veteran’s Day Celebration at 7 p.m. Nov. 11 at Lone Star College Montgomery, Room B-102.
Jerome Loving will be the featured speaker. He is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of English at Texas A&M University. He is the author of biographies of Walt Whitman, Mark Twain, and Theodore Dreiser. His Jack and Norman: A State-Raised Convict and The Legacy of Norman Mailer’s The Executioner’s Song is under Hollywood option and soon to be available in audiobook.
In 2026, the Texas A&M University Press will publish his Vietnam memoir, After the Good War. Caleb Cage, esteemed author of Goods of Diyala: Transfer of Command in Iraq, Desert Momentos: Stories of Iraq, and War Narratives: Shaping Beliefs, Blurring Truths in the Middle East, said of Loving’s memoir, “I have never read a book as personal and reflective as this one.
