The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas and Naskila Casino held a groundbreaking ceremony June 18 for the upcoming Naskila Casino Resort in Leggett, officials announced in a June 18 news release.
What to expect
The roughly 685,000-square-foot Naskila Casino Resort will be located on 95 acres of Alabama-Coushatta Tribal land and will include a large gaming floor, a 366-room hotel, entertainment amenities, various dining options, a resort-style pool complex, and an event and conference space, according to the release.
The resort will be rolled out in phases, with the first phase incorporating several attractions, including:
- Roughly 3,400 electronic bingo machines
- Non-smoking, smoking and high-limit VIP casino areas
- Restaurants, bars, lounges and food hall concepts
- Approximately 35,000 square feet of flexible event and conference space
- A 1,000-person capacity grand ballroom
Officials said project costs are not available at this time.
The new project comes after the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas opened the Naskila Casino in Livingston in 2016, which has created an annual economic impact of $251.7 million, according to a study by the Texas Forest Country Partnership.

“What began as a vision has grown into a significant economic driver for east Texas and this next phase allows us to build on that momentum,” said Keith Sherer, general manager of the Naskila Casino. “Naskila Casino Resort will create new opportunities, attract visitors from across the region and deliver lasting benefits for the Tribe, our employees and surrounding communities for generations to come.”
On the horizon
The first phase of Naskila Casino Resort is expected to be completed by the end of 2028, per the release.
However, officials said the development schedule for the hotel and resort-style pool complex is still being determined and more information will be shared for future phases as plans are finalized and construction progresses.
In the meantime, the Naskila Casino Leggett—a temporary, 24-hour gaming experience located on the future site of the resort—is set to open late this summer 2026, per the release.
It will have 300 electronic bingo machines, smoking and non-smoking areas, a 24-hour dining venue and the Seven Feathers Players Club.
