Montgomery County investigators identified 15-year-old Khi Broussard as the victim in a New Caney homicide and say social media may be connected.
NEW CANEY, Texas — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has identified the 15-year-old boy found shot to death in New Caney over the weekend as Khi Broussard.
Investigators now believe Broussard and the suspect may have had prior contact through social media and may have planned to meet on the night of the killing.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit continues to investigate the homicide, which occurred Saturday night on Stevens Street in New Caney.
According to investigators, a homeowner discovered Broussard’s body around 11:30 p.m. while returning home. Responding deputies found the teen with a gunshot wound, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives and crime scene investigators spent the weekend canvassing the area and gathering evidence.
Investigators are now asking residents in the area to review surveillance footage that may have captured a possible suspect or suspect vehicle.
The sheriff’s office said the timeframe of interest is between 10:30 p.m. and midnight on Saturday, May 30.
Authorities said Broussard previously attended Aldine Middle School and Keefer Crossing Middle School and was known to frequent the Greenspoint area.
Investigators have not released information about a suspect, and details surrounding the shooting remain limited.
