To all you MISD Fishing Team Fans, if you recall, last month
at Toledo Bend our combined squad finished in 2nd place at that
event, aka “Second Fiddle.” Well, I am here
to tell you that these Anglers from both Lake Creek and Montgomery High Schools
did not like that one bit and set out to change that bad taste in their mouths.

Being that Spring Break led into this event, many of our
Teams were able to put in some extra time on the water preparing for this last
Divisional Event of the Season. None more so than the newly crowned 2025-26
Anglers of the year Jacob Riley and Brenner Kirklin. This pair brought in a
nice limit of Bass tipping the scales at 17.29 pounds, landing in 3rd
place out of 140 Teams competing from 18 Houston Area High School Programs. image

Following them very closely and nailing down 5th
place with 16.45 pounds was the Team of Tyler Gerbrecht and Zane Kibbey. This
was the pairs’ highest finish this season, which was anchored by the biggest
fish caught by an MISD Angler at 6.19 pounds. image

Waylon Hasara and Chase Benton were the final piece of the
Team being able to secure the victory at Sam Rayburn. They brought in the third
highest total for MISD with 5 fish weighing in at 14.01 pounds, claiming 12th
place.

All total, the top 3 Teams from MISD brought 47.75 pounds of
fish to the scales, claiming their 4th win of the Season out of 5
Divisional Tournaments fished. The total points for the Team was 499 points out
of 500, easily outdistancing the rest of the Division to claim an 11th
THSBA Houston Divisional Title out of 12 Seasons which they have competed,
making sure they would not be “Second Fiddle” again.

Next up for your MISD Fishing Team will be at Lake Conroe
for the Regional Championship on Saturday May the 2nd. So, come on
out to the weigh in at the MISD Stadium, enjoy some Rudy’s Barbecue, and cheer
on the young men and women of the MISD Fishing Team as they will be vying for
their 5th Regional Title. Weigh in begins at 3:00, so hope to see
you there.
