James Lee Willis was found and arrested at a hotel along the Gulf Freeway near Airport
HOUSTON — The man who investigators say escaped from Harris County Precinct 4 deputy constables is back in custody.
Officials released photos and videos of James Lee Willis‘s latest arrest Tuesday afternoon at a hotel near the Gulf Freeway and Airport in southeast Houston. Authorities said Willis tried to run again and was bitten by a K-9.
Willis is accused of assault and aggravated kidnapping. He escaped Saturday while receiving treatment at Northwest Houston Hospital.
According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, Willis carjacked a man outside the hospital by acting like he had a weapon and forcing the victim to drive to Westfield Place Drive, which is just over a mile from the hospital.
“He was scared, he was you know, threatened. And he did what he needed to do to get through that situation. The suspect just needed transportation out of there and so he got him away about 5 or 6 blocks,” Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said Monday before the capture.
Authorities said Willis is now facing aggravated family assault, burglary with intent to commit another felony, unlawful possession of a firearm, violation of bond, escape and aggravated kidnapping charges.
