Why are you running for office?
I am running for Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5 because I love my community and care deeply about the people I serve. Montgomery County has been my lifelong home and I believe our court should be fair, consistent and respectful. I will serve with integrity, compassion, and a commitment to what benefits our community.
What would your top priorities be if elected?
My top priority is ensuring the Justice of the Peace court operates fairly, efficiently and with respect for every individual. I am committed to applying the law consistently while treating all parties with dignity and ensuring the court remains accessible, transparent, and accountable to the people it serves.
What are the biggest challenges facing Precinct 5?
One of the greatest challenges in Precinct 5 is keeping pace with rapid growth while continuing to serve residents effectively. As Montgomery County expands, the Justice of the Peace court must adapt to increased demand without losing its focus on timely service, clear communication and equal treatment for everyone who comes before the court.
How will you manage case loads in a county expected to see more population growth?
I will manage growing caseloads by emphasizing efficient, organized, and consistent court operations. This includes strong case management and respect for the time of all parties. I would like to add a night court to expand access while ensuring fairness and due process as our county continues to grow.
How will you collaborate with law enforcement and government to increase safety?
I will work closely with law enforcement and county officials to support public safety while upholding the rule of law. With 37 years in law enforcement, including serving as a Captain in the Precinct 5 Constable’s Office, I bring firsthand knowledge that enhances collaboration, communication, and accountability across agencies.
Why are you running for office?
I am running for JP PCT5 because I value the civil process work and this is the next career step. I want to continue to lead my community with integrity and competence in the court and outside of the court.
What would your top priorities be if elected?
My top three priorities would be: Adjusting court hours to better accommodate patrons, Upgrading safety and technology in the courts, Educating the public on the purpose of a JP court
What are the biggest challenges facing Precinct 5?
The biggest challenges I see facing PCT5 are population growth and efficiency of processing cases.
How will you manage case loads in a county expected to see more population growth?
Case load management will need technology – for the patrons and for the court staff. I will champion using technology to help mitigate backlogs and eliminate inefficiencies.
How will you collaborate with law enforcement and government to increase safety?
The JP Court in PCT5 already works closely with the PCT5 Constables, MCSO, DPS, and the MC Dist Attorney’s office. Requesting a budget for courtroom safety equipment (detectors) as well as full time bailiff will address immediate safety gaps.
