Why did you decide to run in this election?
Advocating for public education and the rights of all students comes naturally to me. I have dedicated much of my adult life to volunteering in our schools, serving on parent committees, and speaking with legislators in Austin. As a board trustee, I would use my voice to support even more students.
What is your top priority, if elected?
Montgomery ISD is excelling in many ways, but we must better support students with behavioral challenges so teachers can focus on teaching and parents can stay engaged. With enrollment declining, many families are choosing homeschooling or private schools, often citing ongoing concerns about bullying and school climate.
What do you think are the two biggest challenges facing Montgomery?
MISD faces two major challenges: reduced funding caused by legislative changes and declining enrollment, along with ensuring student safety, particularly addressing bullying concerns. These issues affect resources, school operations, and the overall well-being of students, making them key priorities for the district to address moving forward.
How would you approach Montgomery’s growth and development?
Our community is growing quickly, and I appreciate that the district uses the long-range planning committee and annual demographic reports to stay ahead. I believe MISD will soon need two new campuses for 5th and 6th grades, which would ease overcrowding and create a better learning environment for students.
What should Montgomery’s budget priorities be?
Our budget priorities should include increasing pay for teachers and paraprofessionals—they work incredibly hard and deserve fair compensation. I also believe we should invest more in continuing education and learning tools for educators who support our differently abled students.
Why did you decide to run in this election?
I’m running because Montgomery ISD is an outstanding district and community. My goal isn’t to change what works, but to protect the small-town values that make it so special. As we grow, we must keep students first, support teachers, and ensure responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars.
What is your top priority, if elected?
My top priority is keeping students and teachers at the center of every decision. Retaining high-quality teachers in a competitive market is essential to student success. This means supporting educators in the classroom, maintaining strong academic standards, and ensuring teachers have the resources needed to create effective learning environments.
What do you think are the two biggest challenges facing Montgomery?
Rapid growth and maintaining educational excellence, especially teacher retention. As more families move to the area, Montgomery ISD must plan responsibly for facilities, staffing, and infrastructure while supporting and retaining quality teachers and preserving the high academic standards and community values that make the district strong.
How would you approach Montgomery’s growth and development?
The current board and administration have done an amazing job staying ahead of growth. We must continue that plan through long-term facility planning, collaboration with community leaders, and ensuring schools keep pace with enrollment while protecting taxpayers from unnecessary financial burdens and maintaining the high-quality education Montgomery families expect.
What should Montgomery’s budget priorities be?
Budget priorities should focus on classrooms first by supporting teachers and expanding student programs so every student has opportunities to grow and succeed. We must also provide safe facilities and practice strong financial stewardship with transparency and accountability so taxpayers know their dollars are being spent wisely.
