Rotarians are celebrating Christmas and New Year’s Eve with families with no Rotary meetings for the rest of this year with our first meetings during the first full week in January 2026.
We are making plans for more service projects with the very last service project for this year on Friday, December 19th. The recently chartered Interact Club of Conroe High School went Christmas shopping for the women in need and their children at the Montgomery County Women ‘s Shelter.
This women’s shelter is one of many legacies of Rotarian Tom Cox who dreamt it and built it. On Wednesday, December 17th, the young adults in the CHS Interact Club went shopping at Target in Conroe, four blocks from their high school. Working on a list provided by the MCWS, these young shoppers went Christmas shopping to provide the 26 affected children and 30 women at the shelter special Christmas presents. Three shopping carts were checked out with these unwrapped gifts about to be transformed into wrapped Christmas presents.
With the permission of Starbucks, these young adults took over a large table in the coffee shop and fervently wrapped the 56 presents. Three large bags of Christmas presents were then loaded up for these young adults to visit the women’s shelter on Friday afternoon along with a charming old man named St. Nick! Christmas joy and presents were distributed to all at the women’s shelter with the departing Interact Club Members leaving with smiles on their faces as they knew what they had done! They had blessed these 56 souls with the spirit of Christmas and left the Shelter with peace in their young hearts!
Later that Friday, the Rotary Club of Conroe held their Christmas Party at the home of Rotarian Michael Hayes and his wife Natalie. The cheer and food were abundant as these Rotarians celebrated the birth of the Messiah.
Deanna Voitle with the Rotary Club of Lake Conroe told me on December 17th, “Hope you have a Merry Christmas! It’s a wonderful time of the year… Our club meeting today was amazing!!! We had 2 great events! First, Our Christmas project this year was members donated to collect money with the club matching the contributions to purchase gift cards to Montgomery ISD and Willis ISD students in need to purchase food, clothing or necessities. Our members donated $2,000.00 and our club contributed $2,000.00! Each school district received Walmart gift cards totaling $4,000.00 ($2,000.00 each) Thank you to all who made this possible.
The second was our speaker- leaders in Montgomery ISD Athletics-Michelle Rochinski – Softball at Lake Creek High School- she talked about her career and how she got started to the achievements made with the teams she has coached over the years! What goals the players can accomplish and a future for them.”
Rotarians worldwide are rejoicing in the year. Polio is almost eradicated! Peace is achievable if we just work at it! Blessings to all for the coming year!
