Rotary Club of Lake Conroe met recently at Amore Fine Dining on Texas 105 in Montgomery. As usual the food was delicious, the comradery was wonderful and the program was interesting and insightful. Also as usual, the meeting opened with a prayer and then we recited the Pledge to the American Flag and then the Pledge to the Texas Flag.
Committee reports were given followed lots of good news! First of all Craig Jones was thrilled about the success of the recent Bob Dylan Tribute at Bernhardt Winery. Lots of RCLC members attended. Next, Mike Berger talked about all the fun he had at his 60th high school reunion trip. New member Liz Sandell reported the good news that she wasn’t hit by lightning. We are so glad to have you, Liz, and we are also glad that you weren’t hit by lightning!
Then Kym Crane shared info about SPCA PETS SNAP of Montgomery County’s (a 501c3, all volunteer, animal rescue organization) Charity Golf Tournament, Fore Fido, coming up on Monday, September 15th at Walden Golf Club. Only $100 per person and a $5000 cash Hole-in-One prize. (Check out www.spcaofmc.org for info)
Next President Jan Ricketts introduced our guest speakers for today, Julie Stone Cortez and Linda Sauceda, President and President Elect of Montgomery County Choral Society. MCCS has been entertaining folks in our area for over 50 years! MCCS believes that culture enriches communities and brings people together through the power of music. As they embark on their mission to create unforgettable musical experiences, they encourage the community to be an integral part of this journey. The 2025-2026 Concert Season is their 54th year of sustaining and promoting the arts in our area. Their commitment to delivering exceptional choral performances, uplighting concerts and educational outreach initiatives is unwavering. The 2025-2026 Season, titled “Resonance: A Season of Story and Spirit” consists of “Mysteries in Harmony,” Saturday, October 11 at 4 pm; “The Many Moods of Christmas,” Saturday, December 13 at 7 pm; “Awakenings,” Saturday, February 28th at 7 pm; and “Greatest Hits,” Saturday, May 16th at 4 pm.

This past Saturday the Magnolia Rotary Club sponsored a Meals of Hope project for the Society of Samaritans [SOS]. With the help of 59 volunteers from the community including the Magnolia West Rotary Interact Club, the Church of Jesus Christ LDS, Scout troops 1114 & 1115, the United Methodist Church Missions Group, Rotarians and all our friends assembled some 1,600 packets of dried chicken & rice soup mix and delivered them to the adjacent SOS storage area.
SOS will distribute them as needed to their many clients in need of food in our area. Many thanks to all the volunteers and Commissioner Charlie Riley for making the Community Development Center available for our use.
Lastly, The Rotary Club of Conroe will be celebrating its 93rd Birthday on Tuesday with a Chamber ribbon-cutting, birthday cake, proclamations and more. Please join the celebration at noon at Honor Café in historic downtown Conroe.
