The Rotary Club of Conroe lost its most senior member, being Bob Putnam at 107 years old last week. Bob served gallantly during World War II in the U. S. Navy and will be missed. He is our area’s oldest veteran! Please keep his daughter Jean Chancy and family in your prayers! Funeral plans have not been provided yet.
The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is finalizing its selection of High School Juniors to participate in a three-day weekend in the first part of January, 2026. This event brings hundreds of Juniors from Southeast Texas together at a Leadership Camp at a Baptist Retreat Camp. Leadership skills are honed in between amazing presentations by Rotary Leaders on what is a Leader and what does a Leader do. The one central message is that a leader elevates others to higher levels of achievement and performance. Examples of how to elevate others and motivate are provided along with experiences in team-building. Sunday morning is the culmination in members of your team building out of cardboard a race car or boat (weather permitting) to compete with other teams. Juniors learn about others. They also have as much ice cream as they want during this three-day weekend learning experience. This experience has opened the visions of thousands of Juniors providing them with real leadership skills.
