School is out for summer, but not before Rotarians handed out scholarships to graduating high-school seniors and first graders received their “I Like Me” Books.
This is a time for Rotarians to reflect on how they have assisted others in the world. It is all about education and raising others to even higher heights! Deitra Johnson with the rotary Club of East Montgomery County told me, “The Rotary Club of East Montgomery County proudly awarded scholarships to four outstanding graduating seniors from local high schools in recognition of their hard work, leadership, and commitment to their future goals.
Each student received a $2,000 scholarship to support their continued education:
• Amber Nichole Michael — New Caney High School
• Daniela Uchima — Infinity Early College High School
• Madison Bishop — Splendora High School
• Brooke Brown — Caney Creek High School
The Rotary Club of East Montgomery County congratulates these students on their achievements and wishes them continued success as they begin the next chapter of their educational journeys. Through its scholarship program, Rotary remains committed to investing in the future of local students and supporting tomorrow’s leaders.”
Stephen Bauer with the Rotary club of The Woodlands has been renamed as “The Count” because he is busy acquiring vast supplies of blood for the Red Cross Blood Center. He is driven to get blood out of everyone. Count Bauer said to me, “Our Next Blood Drive is June 4th. Please come and donate and ask your friends to come as well. Every donation can save up to 3 lives. We still have plenty of spaces available so please e-mail me at stephen.bauer@unitedcapitalwealth.com or call me at 214-476-8237 and we will get you signed up. For those that are already signed up, you should receive an email from my assistant at stephen.bauer.assistant@gmail.com with your time. If you can’t make it to our drive, try to go to the blood center on 242 and give them our code 4354G902 so we can get credit.

The Rotary Club of Conroe heard from Elizabeth Woods, Executive Director of The Montgomery County Veterans Memorial Commission, and the Commission’s Project Manager, Thomas Turner, about the developing Projects at the Veterans Memorial Commission Park last Tuesday, immediately after Memorial Day. The Park’s Building is getting ready to open soon after being delayed by the building’s elevator vendor for months. Ground has been broken on the Gold Star Memorial Dome which will be the second largest of its kin in the USA. This dome recognizes the sacrifices of Gold Star Families. Furthermore, the Park will have upgraded LED lighting and data/communications links utilizing the latest technology, per Mr. Turner. Thomas Turner further added the Veterans Memorial Commission Park is being expanded with a botanical garden and Quonset Hut for Veterans to meet and support each other. The Rotary Club of Conroe is proud to have sponsored facilities in support of our Veterans.
