Rotarians are closing another fiscal year of achievements. Rotary District 5910 contains 44 active Rotary Club stretching from Beaumont toward but not including Houston.
However, District 5910 contains Galveston County to the South and the five Rotary Clubs in Montgomery County. The District 5910 Conference was held last Saturday in Bryan with Rotarians celebrating their achievements and honoring those who have made a difference. District 5910 has established a Roll of Fame in which distinguished Rotarians are honored for their service. Each Rotary Club has the opportunity to nominate one person for this Roll of Fame with Montgomery County’s Rotary Clubs have several Rotarians of note which were honored with this District distinction.
Rotarians from Montgomery County which were honored include:
• Ed Kelly from the Rotary Club of Conroe. Ed is a retired U. S. Navy Captain with both Ed and his wife Cecily active Rotarians. Ed has endeared fellow Rotarians with his leadership in various Club roles and has recently chaired the “I Like Me” book program which successfully distributed another year of books to first graders which will eventually feed into the Conroe High School System.
• Sherry Bogus from the Rotary Club of Lake Conroe. She is a financial advisor and has been active in her Rotary Club, serving in a variety of positions.
• Ryan Mathes from the Rotary Club of The Woodlands. She is a second-generation Rotarians and a past President of the largest Rotary Club in Montgomery County. She is a financial advisor in The Woodlands.
Congratulations to these Rotarians for a job well done. The privilege of serving others continues to provide Rotarians with opportunities for personal growth. Service is one of those activities that grows character and the inner soul of each Rotarian.
As Rotarians, we have fun in many ways. This month, Rotarians celebrate the Fellowships of Rotary International. These fellowship groups are autonomous groups focused on interests and hobbies. These groups go from Agricultural activities to Yoga. As Rotarians, these fellowship groups encourage fellowship and personal growth in your zones of passion and hobbies. Whatever your interest, these groups are there to enhance your interests. Whether it is from gin to wine, sports, physical exercise, ethics, games, IT, weather, antiques and more, these groups are around.
Local groups within these fellowships in your community can also be established with a minimum of 25 Rotarians. Of course, spouses are always welcome.
As we near the end of June, we honor those who have led and look forward to our incoming elected leaders. At the same time, we celebrate our fun!
