Evan Berlin with the Rotary Club of The Woodlands told me, “The Rotary Club of The Woodlands was privileged to host a Breakfast at Truluck’s in The Woodlands on Wednesday, May 6, from 7:30-9 a.m. The event honored Kristin Marlow, CEO of the Montgomery County Food Bank, and benefited Lone Star College’s Maverick Care Center. The Maverick Care Center supports students in need by providing essential resources, including a food pantry, clothing closet, and access to valuable campus and community support services. Dr. De’Reese Reid-Hart (President, Lone Star College Montgomery) was the keynote speaker for this charity event.”
This successful breakfast event raised monies for any struggling students at Lone Start College.
Stephen Bauer with the Rotary Club forward information for their upcoming blood drives. Mr. Bauer is works at United Capital Wealth during the day and has earned the nickname of Vampire for his relentless search for blood for the right causes. “Our Next Blood Drive is June 4th. Please come and donate and ask your friends to come as well. Every donation can save up to 3 lives. We still have plenty of spaces available so please e-mail me at stephen.bauer@unitedcapitalwealth.com or call me at 214-476-8237 and we will get you signed up. For those that are already signed up, you should receive an email from my assistant at stephen.bauer.assistant@gmail.com with your time. Rotarians like Stephen Bauer are service oriented toward our community.
The Rotary Club of Conroe provides volunteers to “Rest in Heavenly Peace” which is a non-profit organization which makes beds for those who have only the floor to sleep on. Greg Gathright rounds up Rotarians and their families and friends to volunteer on Saturdays to construct beds and the following Saturday to deliver and erect those beds to the smiles and heartfelt thanks of those who now have a bed to rest their weary heads!
The trend toward service is evident with Rotary working with organizations to impact communities in a positive manner by teaming up with organizations like Rest in Heavenly Peace, the Blood Center, The Lone Star College Maverick Care Center, and the Society of Samaritans. These are some of the local impacts that Rotarians have on our local community. In addition, Rotarians are mounting a fierce battle to completely eradicate Polio from the world! Rotarians do these charitable activities because we care!
