On the last day of February this past Saturday, the MISD
Fishing Team looked to continue their winning streak on Toledo Bend. The
conditions were fantastic, with mild temperatures and light and variable winds.
It is unusual for Toledo Bend this time of year, as you are normally battling high
winds and colder temperatures.

Leading the way for MISD was the leaders in the Angler of
the Year Race for the Houston Division, Jacob Riley, and Brenner Kirklin. The
pair brought an impressive 5 fish limit to the scales which weighed 16.91
pounds, landing them in 3^rd Place out of 147 Teams from 18 area High
Schools.

The second highest finisher for MISD was Cade Przyborski and
Gavin Nabors. This pair of Anglers weighed in a 5 Bass limit for 14.52 pounds,
which landed them in 11^th place.

Brendan Wade and Zachary Kenney also brought a 5 Bass limit
to the scales, which weighed 13.38 pounds. This effort secured this Team a
finish in the top 15 at 14^th place and helped MISD amass a Team
total weight for the Top 3 Teams from MISD, at 44.82 pounds.

It should be noted that Weston Moore and Zane Ellis came in
15^th place, just behind Brendan and Zachary. Their 5 Bass limit
tipped the scales at 13.27 pounds, making 4 MISD Teams in the top 15 out of 147
Individual Team.

However, as many of you know that follow this highly
decorated Team, the usual formula is to have 3 Teams in the Top 10 to have a
strong chance of winning the tournament for your High School or Program. Unfortunately,
the MISD Fishing Team played “Second Fiddle” to a strong and well-respected
program from Magnolia West. The were able to edge out MISD with a winning total
for their top 3 Teams of 45.49 pounds, claiming First Place.

Next stop for your MISD Anglers will be at storied Sam
Rayburn in March. It will be there that the MISD Fishing Team will look to sew
up their 11^th Houston Division Title in 12 years of competing.
