The team made the announcement Friday, just a couple days after trading for Detroit’s David Montgomery.
HOUSTON — The Houston Texans have parted with running back Joe Mixon, the team confirmed.
Mixon had been with the team for two seasons, though he didn’t see any game action last season due to a foot and ankle injury. Earlier this week, the Texans traded with Detroit to bring David Montgomery to town.
Houston acquired Mixon in 2024 for a seventh-round pick. While with the Texans, Mixon played in 14 games, had 245 carries for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also had a touchdown receiving for Houston.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Mixon requested his release. The moves saves Houston $8 million.
