Following her first No. 1 hit, “Hurricane,” Texas country artist Sandee June returns with her brand-new single, “Southern King.” The soulful follow-up debuted at No. 57 on the Texas Regional Radio chart and has already climbed to No. 46 after just two weeks on the radio.
Written by Sandee June and fellow songwriters Seth Candan, Mike Lais and Derek Shampine, and produced by June and Ed Bradley, “Southern King” delivers the same mix of heartfelt storytelling and irresistible groove that fans have come to love from the Santa Fe, Texas, native.
“I thought ‘Southern King’ would be a great follow-up to ‘Hurricane,’” said June. “Being from Texas, we love our southern boys, and the moody feel and beat of the song had me from the get-go.”
“Southern King” blends June’s signature country soul and sultry sound with a modern edge. The track celebrates the free spirit and deep roots of southern boys and continues June’s momentum as one of Texas country’s fastest-rising voices.
June said she’s proud to release “Southern King” as the next step in her musical journey.
“I’ve grown so much as an artist since my first single, and this song really shows that evolution,” she shared. “It’s got that grit, soul and the Texas heart that I want every song to have.”
“Southern King” is now available on all major streaming platforms and Texas Country radio.
June has a way of drawing you in with her rich, soothing tone and connecting listeners to the heart of every lyric. A lifelong Texan, she grew up on a mix of country and classic rock – from Patsy Cline and Loretta Lynn to James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt. Since releasing her first single, “Somewhere Between Hell and a Honky Tonk,” in 2020, June has charted seven songs across major Texas country music charts. “Hurricane” became her first No. 1 song in Texas, setting the stage for her latest release, “Southern King.”
