October 2 – 5, 2025 –
There were 29 chapters represented, coming from all directions in our great state. Business meetings were held during the day and award ceremonies at night. The U D C honors the military (all branches) on Friday evening which is known as Historical Evening. The recipients receive a Military Service Award, they can be on active duty or retired, for serving their country. Recipients at this convention had seen active duty during the Global War on Terror and the Vietnam Conflict, it is a very moving ceremony.
A Memorial Service is held for all the ladies that passed away since the last convention. When her name is read, members of that persons’ chapter stand, a white flower is placed on a green wreath, in honor of those ladies.
Sadly the wreath is full by the end of the ceremony.
The Stubbs chapter received many certificates at the state convention…for…their scrapbook, new members, articles with a picture in the newspaper, three members sing in the Texas Belles Choir, one member writes essays and poems and one member received the Sidney Lanier medal for a play she wrote.
The friendships that are made within this organization are priceless. Most of the time the members only see each other perhaps twice a year on the state level, but it is a true “kindred spirit”.
