With 3,943 out of 4,636, or 85%, of polling locations reporting, these eight Republican and Democratic candidates for the U.S. House have secured a win in the March primaries and will head to the November election.
Republicans:
- Steve Toth, District 2
- Randy Weber, District 14
- Ronald Dwayne Whitefield, District 18
- Trever Nehls, District 22
- Martha Fiero, District 29
- Jessica Hart Steinmann, District 8
In District 7, no candidates garnered more than 50% of the vote, triggering a runoff election in May. Alexander Hale received the most votes, 7,921, with Tina Cohen trailing with 4,717.
Two candidates for District 38 will also head to a runoff election. Jon Bonck and Shelly Dezevallos received 47.73% and 18.62% of the total votes, respectively.
Democrats:
- Shaun Finnie, District 2
- Lizzie Pannill Fletcher, District 7
- Laura Jones, District 8
- Marquette Greene-Scott, District 22
- Sylvia Garcia, District 29
- Melissa McDonough, District 38
In District 14, candidates Thurman Bill Bartie and Richard Davis will head to a runoff election in May, with each candidate scoring less than 50% of the vote. Davis led the March 3 primary election with 22,635, or 44.31% of the vote, with Bartie trailing at 15,961, or 31.25% of the total vote.
Two candidates for District 18, Christian Menefee and Al Green, will also head to a runoff. Menefree, who holds the current district seat after winning a special election in January to fill the remainder of a previously vacant term, trails behind Al Green by 12%. Mefee secured 33,989 total votes, or 41.83%, while Green had 38,897 total votes, or 47.76%.

Early voting results show that several U.S. House Representatives are taking a clear lead in several key races in the Democratic and Republican primaries.
Selected races include only contested U.S. House seats that fall within Community Impact’s Houston coverage zone, which includes Districts 2, 7, 8, 14, 18, 22, 29 and 38. To learn more about the candidates running in each race, check out these Q&As.
Republican results
In the Republican race for Districts 2, 8, 14, 18, 22, 29 and 38, candidates are leading by more than 50% margins, although the candidate in District 29, Martha Fierro, is running unopposed.
Republican leaders include Steve Toth, Jessica Hart Steinmann, Randy Weber, Ronald Dwayne Whitefield, Trever Nehls and Jon Bonck, respectively.
For District 7, no candidates have garnered more than 50% of the vote. Alexander Hale and Tina Cohen are in the lead, with Cohen seeing 29.36% of the vote and Hale seeing 34.83% of the vote.
Democrat results
In the Democratic race for Districts 2, 7, 8, 18, 22, 29 and 38, candidates are leading by more than 50% margins, although candidates in District 2 and 7 are running unopposed.
Democrat leaders include Shaun Finnie, Lizzie Pannill Fletcher, Laura Jones, Christian Menefee, Marquette Greene-Scott, Sylvia Garcia and Melissa McDonough, respectively.
In District 14, no candidates have more than 50% of the vote. Richard Davis is leading with 47.68% of the vote, with Konstantinos Vogiatzis trailing with 28.78%.
