Walden’s Lakeview Dining STORY

Since 1972, Walden’s Lakeview Dining has served its community with delicious cuisine and a top notch, elegant experience. As the first restaurant to be built on Lake Conroe, we had the unique opportunity to use the panoramic lake views to our advantage, and create a beautiful experience for all who dine with us. Walden’s has been the hub of social activity on the lake ever since.

Many of our guest come in from all over Houston to experience our cuisine, take in a beautiful sunset, or grab a nice bite after a long day on the lake. Our local residence never miss a Sunday Brunch, and many guests enjoy our fabulous Happy Hour throughout the week. And we have many other ways to experience Walden’s, as well.

Overall I'd say about 4.5 stars.Food - 4/5 - Meals (chicken, steak, veggies) - tasted good with a great flavor. Tender. Not the best I ever had but an enjoyable meal. Also had the tiramisu and it was also about a 4/5 - good taste but could have been most moist (similar to how I felt the steak / chicken could have been juicer and even more tender). Comparing to other expensive places in which you expect a higher experience based on a premium/ upscale price/restaurant.Service - zero complaints. Quick & responsive. Nice. Not many people there as well even though it was primetime around 5 PM on a Saturday night.Atmosphere - beautiful building and the views are exceptional.Would return as it was a pleasant experience with great views and a convenient location.

The atmosphere was pleasant and the live singer added a nice touch. The food was good, shrimp cocktail appetizer was OK, not great or special. The Chicken Rosa Maria was very good.Cheese cake was nice.We really enjoyed the window seat and the lake scenery made our night!

We love this place! The head server, Miguel, can run the entire restaurant by himself and we look forward to seeing him every week. We have met many nice people and nice, old hunting lodge atmosphere. The food is mainly okay, but sometimes not so much. The main complaint I have is there is NO dress code. I like Walden because they are one of the very few places in Conroe/Montgomery where I can dress up. However, I have seen people there who look like they just stepped off the beach, flip flops, short shorts, tank tops, tattoos displayed in places most people wouldn't want to see with sand between their toes! These people should be patronizing Breakwater! PLEASE enforce a dress code where at a Minimum, No Shorts, Torn Jeans, or Tank Tops allowed! We expect this kind of dress at fast food joints, but NOT at a country club! I don't want Walden to go from classy to trashy!

The service was spot on. The staff is friendly and helpful. Very professional. The food was great and the view is the best view on the lake. Million $$ view. Wish they had music on Friday and Saturday nights.

I’d like to just preface this by saying I managed restaurants, including fine dining, for many many years (and recently, not back in the day sort of thing) and the front door / check in situation on Easter is by far some of, if not the most, unorganized I’ve ever experienced. Management, non-existent. Left a poor 17 year old girl by herself to run the front door on one of the busiest holidays of the year. Absurd. We got here for our reservation at 1:00pm, with a packed line in the lobby that didn’t move until about 1:45 when we were finally able to check in and we were told by the host is was going to be a wait and she had no idea how long. Finally after an hour of waiting, we were about to leave and go to a Mexican restaurant down the road when FINALLY they started setting up the table. We only came here because it USED to be my aunt’s favorite place, and she just passed away earlier this week. Unfortunately, we will not be back. Not a single apology, completely unorganized, and absolutely crushes my service industry soul. If I could give it 0 stars, I would.Update: table was thrown together. Saw the server once. Food selection and taste, very sub par for an Easter buffet brunch. Place stacked with dirty, unbussed tables and trays laying around with dirty plates on it.

Everything about this place is great! Visiting from Maryland we came here for dinner. The views were great as well as the view of the lake.The staff was great and the food was amazing!

We’ve loved Walden at Lake Conroe for years and used to come here regularly for Sunday brunch after church. It was always worth the drive, even after we moved, because the food and service were excellent. Unfortunately, things have changed lately the food variety is limited, and the portions are much smaller. Trays run empty and take a long time to be refilled, so by the time you go back for seconds, most options are gone. The place is still beautiful, and a few staff members remain attentive, but overall the service and quality have declined so much that it no longer feels worth the trip.

I didn't realize we were going to a "private" club on Lake Conroe, but this little place is a gem. Everything, down to dishware is extremely dated, but that one of the reasons I loved this place! The waiters still do Steak Diane and flambe fruit for ice cream table side. Miguel, our waiter, has been there for 27 years and was amazing. While the menu and food scream 1989, it was prepared perfectly and tasted delicious. This little snoozer is also a fantastic people watching place.
